This policy explains how information is handled when you visit adeolaadeniji.com or contact me about this website.
Who is responsible
I am Adeola Adeniji, the owner of this personal portfolio and writing website and the controller of personal information I receive through enquiries. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
Information and purposes
- Website visits: Cloudflare hosts and protects the site. It processes technical request information, such as your IP address, browser details, requested URL and request time, to deliver pages, detect abuse and keep the service reliable.
- Email enquiries: if you email me, I receive your email address, name if supplied, message and any attachments. I use these to respond and manage our correspondence through my email provider, Google. Please avoid sending sensitive information unless we have agreed a suitable channel.
- Readership and performance: where enabled, Cloudflare Web Analytics provides information about page views, referrals, browser and device categories, and page performance. It does not use analytics cookies, local-storage identifiers or fingerprinting to track people across sites.
For technical operation, security and ordinary correspondence, I rely on legitimate interests in maintaining a secure website and responding to people who contact me. If an enquiry concerns entering into a service agreement, processing may also be necessary to take steps at your request before a contract. Legal obligations may require some records to be retained.
Cookies, fonts and external services
The site has no accounts, advertising trackers, contact submission forms or on-site newsletter signup. It does not set its own advertising or analytics cookies. Cloudflare may use necessary security cookies when its protection features require them.
Fonts load from Google Fonts. This sends your IP address and technical request information to Google so the fonts can be delivered. See Google Fonts’ privacy information.
Recent article summaries are retrieved from Substack by the website’s server. Following an article or subscription link takes you to Substack, which handles subscriptions, comments, payments if offered there, and its own cookies under Substack’s privacy policy. Social links likewise open independent services with their own policies.
Sharing and international processing
Information is handled by service providers where necessary for hosting, security, fonts and email. I do not sell enquiry information or use it for advertising. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.
Providers operate internationally and may process information outside the European Economic Area. Their arrangements may rely on adequacy decisions or contractual safeguards, depending on the service and destination. Read Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy for their processing and transfer information. Contact me for information about safeguards relevant to your enquiry.
How long information is kept
Enquiry correspondence is kept for as long as needed to respond and manage any resulting relationship, and longer only where a legal obligation or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims requires it. Technical logs and analytics follow the relevant provider’s retention settings and policies. You can ask about the retention of information relating to your enquiry.
Your choices and rights
Where applicable under data protection law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. These rights may be subject to legal limits.
Send requests to [email protected]. I may need proportionate information to verify your identity. You may also complain to your local data protection authority, including the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
This site does not use your enquiry information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.
